Bezdiven Peak

Bezdiven Peak, at 1,140 m, is the highest point in Kardzhali municipality, in the Eastern Rhodopes near Rusalsko and Nenkovo. Despite its modest height, its wild scenery, striking silhouette and solitude leave an impression. Its sharply rising, isolated pyramid is visible for kilometres. The climb rewards visitors with expansive views and a complete escape from city life.

Two main routes lead to the summit. The more accessible one starts in Rusalsko, crossing woods and meadows with about 330 m of ascent. Suitable for nature lovers in good physical condition, it takes roughly 2–3 hours each way. The Nenkovo route is much wilder and harder, with about 800 m of ascent over rough and sometimes unmarked terrain. Intended for experienced hikers, it takes around 2.5–3 hours to climb, passing the impressive Kalpak Kaya rocks and the balancing stone Topal Kaya.
