Alada Peak

Alada, also known as Allah Dag — Turkish for “God's Mountain” — rises to 1,241 m in Bulgaria's Eastern Rhodopes. It is the highest point of the Zhalti Rid massif, also called Allah Dag locally.

Getting to the summit

The easiest approach is to drive to Garbishte and park by the mosque. The long trail is marked, but the markings can be confusing in places. The route is moderately difficult; beginners are strongly advised to go with an experienced guide or group.

A local legend says that during Ottoman rule, an order was received on Allah Dag to stop the killings and begin persuading people to adopt Islam. Burevo village lies on the slopes. On clear days the Aegean Sea can be seen from the summit.
